Twelve outputs and a Death StarIf you’ve never worked with a laser-focused choreographer (all of them?), I can thoroughly recommend it. It’s intense. And I’m only crew: the dancers on stage have to work their arses off. Every single show. Of all the laser-focused choreographers, Dunja is the ultimate Death Star argon laser, I reckon.

RAVE-L: a Classical Concert with a Club LayerFor RAVE-L, Holland Festival brought a large-scale production into the Grote Zaal at the Muziekgebouw. Les Apaches! played Ravel, Parrish Smith provided the electronic layer, and the room was reshaped into something between a concert hall and a club space. Not exactly a rave. Ex-Easter Island Head & Sun Kit: The Rest is NoiseThe load-in started with quite a trek. Together with the members of Ex-Easter Island Head, we dragged their extensive instrumentation—from percussion and prepared guitars to stage mixers—straight through an empty Grote Zaal all the way to our workspace in the Kleine Zaal. There was an immediate connection with Ben, and the enthusiasm and camaraderie of these Scousers from Liverpool stood out right away. They were incredibly helpful, and the vibe was set from the start.

Casa Cadanza On Tour: Building a Theater in Dock 34A standard theater usually has about two loading docks. At the Royal Lemkes plant distribution center in Bleiswijk, the Orange Rental truck casually backed into dock 34 and it wasn’t even the last one. Right there, surrounded by sea containers and scissor lifts in a massive industrial hall, we built a complete temporary theater for the finale of Casa Cadanza On Tour.

Wiegeling, a feast for all sensesThe performance Wiegeling is an ode to the lullaby. In a soft, sheltered environment, Sterre Konijn (soprano), Rudi van Hest (clarinet), and Jaber Fayad (oud) engage in musical encounters with the young audience (6-18 months) and with each other.

Afternoon of a Nymph at Theater RotterdamA radical reimagining of Nijinsky’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, told from the perspective of the nymph rather than the faun. Seven dancers and a recomposed Debussy score by Jonathan Bonny explore power, identity, and perception. At Theater Rotterdam I ran the show as FOH engineer on an Allen & Heath SQ5, and mixed the performance to a standing ovation.
