I’ve been lucky enough to to be involved in the Z@ppelin iPad app as the back-end programmer. The app has seen tremendous success and is one of the most popular (if not the most popular) apps from the Dutch public broadcasters.

There’s plenty of talk about CSS3 and HTML5, but really implementing it all is something else. Thanks to my good friends at xhtmlized and a very forward-looking customer, www.zapp.nl is now at the forefront of web browser technology.

Geocities
Most of geocities.com has been released as a torrent. All 900 GB of it. I can’t decide what intrigues me the most: that apparently I could put all of geocities on a spare harddisk or that some clown board member destroyed fifteen years of internet culture without even blinking.
HTML5 video (Adobe roxorz? does not compute)
Very strange things are happening. Not pigs flying, even stranger. Adobe have released a very awesome HTML5 video player with Flash fallback. It’s open source, degrades gracefully and has clean, standards-based code! WTF.
I just tested it myself and — gasp — it works! I don’t need to cut off my balls now. Apparently there is hope for mankind.
