This week saw the launch of Z@PPzone: an new online world/game for children. It revolves around the five Z@PP characters Chica, B.B., Lizz, Olec and Spark. They all live on the Media Park and you can help them navigate the world of television.
It’s a fun world. I did not build the front-end, but did the back-end including the rewards system, called “Flappen”. All done in Rails 2.3.5 with a handful of models and a REST API for the game to connect to. I just love how you can add APIs to existing apps like these and keep all code concise, clutter- and spaghetti free with Rails. I even took the chance to increase spec coverage to 88.43%. Not there yet, but getting close.
