Today I released my first public WordPress plugin: Custom Title. Just a tiny plugin that allows you to change the html title of any WordPress page.
The standard title of any WordPress page is that page’s ‘title’ attribute. Seems entirely logical, until you realise that a page ‘title’ might not necessarily be want you want inside the html <title> tag. In 90% of cases it might be fine, but sometimes you need the freedom to have a different title. Search Engine Opitmalisation comes to mind.
The plugin works nicely and I have already submitted it to the official directory. I am working on several other plugins as well and will probably release them in a short while.
Cool! I’m not sure if this is the plugin I’ve used before but when did you release this tool? You’re right in saying that a WP blog is more beautiful when each page has its own title. This is one way of attractive visitors so they will have another reason to stay longer on one’s blog. Also, sub-title on each page helps me in getting organized.
I released the plugin in May ’07. I needed something simple; the SEO plugin does this as well, but it does a million things more for which I have no need.
